Psalm 129

CEB 1 From youth, people have constantly attacked me— let Israel now repeat!— NRS 1 "Often have they attacked me from my youth" —let Israel now say— CEB 2 from youth people have constantly attacked me— but they haven't beaten me! NRS 2 "often have they attacked me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me. CEB 3 They plowed my back like farmers; they made their furrows deep. NRS 3 The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long." CEB 4 But the LORD is righteous— God cut me free from the ropes of the wicked! NRS 4 The Lord is righteous; he has cut the cords of the wicked. CEB 5 Let everyone who hates Zion be ashamed, thoroughly frustrated. NRS 5 May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward. CEB 6 Let them be like grass on a roof that dies before it can be pulled up, NRS 6 Let them be like the grass on the housetops that withers before it grows up, CEB 7 which won't fill the reaper's hand or fill the harvester's arms. NRS 7 with which reapers do not fill their hands or binders of sheaves their arms, CEB 8 Let no one who passes by say to them: "May the LORD's blessing be on you! We bless you in the LORD's name!" NRS 8 while those who pass by do not say, "The blessing of the Lord be upon you! We bless you in the name of the Lord!"
