Psalm 101

MSG 1 My theme song is God's love and justice, and I'm singing it right to you, God. NIV 1 I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise. MSG 2 I'm finding my way down the road of right living, but how long before you show up? I'm doing the very best I can, and I'm doing it at home, where it counts. NIV 2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life-- when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart. MSG 3 I refuse to take a second look at corrupting people and degrading things. I reject made-in-Canaan gods, stay clear of contamination. NIV 3 I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me. MSG 4 The crooked in heart keep their distance; I refuse to shake hands with those who plan evil. NIV 4 Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil. MSG 5 I put a gag on the gossip who bad-mouths his neighbor; I can't stand arrogance. NIV 5 Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure. MSG 6 But I have my eye on salt-of-the-earth people - they're the ones I want working with me; Men and women on the straight and narrow - these are the ones I want at my side. NIV 6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me. MSG 7 But no one who traffics in lies gets a job with me; I have no patience with liars. I've rounded up all the wicked like cattle and herded them right out of the country. NIV 7 No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. MSG 8 I purged God's city of all who make a business of evil. A prayer of one whose life is falling to pieces, and who lets God know just how bad it is. NIV 8 Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.
