Psalm 102

RHE 1 (101-1) <The prayer of the poor man, when he was anxious, and poured out his supplication before the Lord.> (101-2) Hear, O Lord, my prayer: and let my cry come to thee. NIV 1 Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry for help come to you. RHE 2 (101-3) Turn not away thy face from me: in the day when I am in trouble, incline thy ear to me. In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me speedily. NIV 2 Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. RHE 3 (101-4) For my days are vanished like smoke, and my bones are grown dry like fuel for the fire. NIV 3 For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers. RHE 4 (101-5) I am smitten as grass, and my heart is withered: because I forgot to eat my bread. NIV 4 My heart is blighted and withered like grass; I forget to eat my food. RHE 5 (101-6) Through the voice of my groaning, my bone hath cleaved to my flesh. NIV 5 Because of my loud groaning I am reduced to skin and bones. RHE 6 (101-7) I am become like to a pelican of the wilderness: I am like a night raven in the house. NIV 6 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins. RHE 7 (101-8) I have watched, and am become as a sparrow all alone on the housetop. NIV 7 I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof. RHE 8 (101-9) All the day long my enemies reproached me: and they that praised me did swear against me. NIV 8 All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse. RHE 9 (101-10) For I did eat ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping. NIV 9 For I eat ashes as my food and mingle my drink with tears RHE 10 (101-11) Because of thy anger and indignation: for having lifted me up thou hast thrown me down. NIV 10 because of your great wrath, for you have taken me up and thrown me aside. RHE 11 (101-12) My days have declined like a shadow, and I am withered like grass. NIV 11 My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass. RHE 12 (101-13) But thou, O Lord, endurest for ever: and thy memorial to all generations. NIV 12 But you, O LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. RHE 13 (101-14) Thou shalt arise and have mercy on Sion: for it is time to have mercy on it, for the time is come. NIV 13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come. RHE 14 (101-15) For the stones thereof have pleased thy servants: and they shall have pity on the earth thereof. NIV 14 For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity. RHE 15 (101-16) All the Gentiles shall fear thy name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. NIV 15 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory. RHE 16 (101-17) For the Lord hath built up Sion: and he shall be seen in his glory. NIV 16 For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory. RHE 17 (101-18) He hath had regard to the prayer of the humble: and he hath not despised their petition. NIV 17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea. RHE 18 (101-19) Let these things be written unto another generation: and the people that shall be created shall praise the Lord: NIV 18 Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD: RHE 19 (101-20) Because he hath looked forth from his high sanctuary: from heaven the Lord hath looked upon the earth. NIV 19 "The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth, RHE 20 (101-21) That he might hear the groans of them that are in fetters: that he might release the children of the slain: NIV 20 to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death." RHE 21 (101-22) That they may declare the name of the Lord in Sion: and his praise in Jerusalem; NIV 21 So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem RHE 22 (101-23) When the people assemble together, and kings, to serve the Lord. NIV 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD. RHE 23 (101-24) He answered him in the way of his strength: Declare unto me the fewness of my days. NIV 23 In the course of my life he broke my strength; he cut short my days. RHE 24 (101-25) Call me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are unto generation and generation. NIV 24 So I said: "Do not take me away, O my God, in the midst of my days; your years go on through all generations. RHE 25 (101-26) In the beginning, O Lord, thou foundedst the earth: and the heavens are the works of thy hands. NIV 25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. RHE 26 (101-27) They shall perish but thou remainest: and all of them shall grow old like a garment: And as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed. NIV 26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. RHE 27 (101-28) But thou art always the selfsame, and thy years shall not fail. NIV 27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end. RHE 28 (101-29) The children of thy servants shall continue and their seed shall be directed for ever. NIV 28 The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you."
