Psalm 104

BBE 1 Give praise to the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are robed with honour and power. NIV 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. BBE 2 You are clothed with light as with a robe; stretching out the heavens like a curtain: NIV 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent BBE 3 The arch of your house is based on the waters; you make the clouds your carriage; you go on the wings of the wind: NIV 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. BBE 4 He makes winds his angels, and flames of fire his servants. NIV 4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. BBE 5 He has made the earth strong on its bases, so that it may not be moved for ever and ever; NIV 5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. BBE 6 Covering it with the sea as with a robe: the waters were high over the mountains; NIV 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. BBE 7 At the voice of your word they went in flight; at the sound of your thunder they went away in fear; NIV 7 But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; BBE 8 The mountains came up and the valleys went down into the place which you had made ready for them. NIV 8 they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them. BBE 9 You made a limit over which they might not go, so that the earth would never again be covered by them. NIV 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth. BBE 10 You sent the springs into the valleys; they are flowing between the hills. NIV 10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. BBE 11 They give drink to every beast of the field; the mountain asses come to them for water. NIV 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. BBE 12 The birds of the air have their resting-places by them, and make their song among the branches. NIV 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. BBE 13 He sends down rain from his store-houses on the hills: the earth is full of the fruit of his works. NIV 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. BBE 14 He makes the grass come up for the cattle, and plants for the use of man; so that bread may come out of the earth; NIV 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-- bringing forth food from the earth: BBE 15 And wine to make glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face shining, and bread giving strength to his heart. NIV 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. BBE 16 The trees of the Lord are full of growth, the cedars of Lebanon of his planting; NIV 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. BBE 17 Where the birds have their resting-places; as for the stork, the tall trees are her house. NIV 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees. BBE 18 The high hills are a safe place for the mountain goats, and the rocks for the small beasts. NIV 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys. BBE 19 He made the moon for a sign of the divisions of the year; teaching the sun the time of its going down. NIV 19 The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. BBE 20 When you make it dark, it is night, when all the beasts of the woods come quietly out of their secret places. NIV 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl. BBE 21 The young lions go thundering after their food; searching for their meat from God. NIV 21 The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. BBE 22 The sun comes up, and they come together, and go back to their secret places to take their rest. NIV 22 The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens. BBE 23 Man goes out to his work, and to his business, till the evening. NIV 23 Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening. BBE 24 O Lord, how great is the number of your works! in wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of the things you have made. NIV 24 How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. BBE 25 There is the great, wide sea, where there are living things, great and small, more than may be numbered. NIV 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small. BBE 26 There go the ships; there is that great beast, which you have made as a plaything. NIV 26 There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. BBE 27 All of them are waiting for you, to give them their food in its time. NIV 27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. BBE 28 They take what you give them; they are full of the good things which come from your open hand. NIV 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. BBE 29 If your face is veiled, they are troubled; when you take away their breath, they come to an end, and go back to the dust. NIV 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. BBE 30 If you send out your spirit, they are given life; you make new the face of the earth. NIV 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. BBE 31 Let the glory of the Lord be for ever; let the Lord have joy in his works: NIV 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works-- BBE 32 At whose look the earth is shaking; at whose touch the mountains send out smoke. NIV 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke. BBE 33 I will make songs to the Lord all my life; I will make melody to my God while I have my being. NIV 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. BBE 34 Let my thoughts be sweet to him: I will be glad in the Lord. NIV 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD. BBE 35 Let sinners be cut off from the earth, and let all evil-doers come to an end. Give praise to the Lord, O my soul. Give praise to the Lord. NIV 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.
