Psalm 106

RHE 1 (105-1) Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. RHE 2 (105-2) Who shall declare the powers of the Lord? who shall set forth all his praises? NIV 2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise? RHE 3 (105-3) Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do justice at all times. NIV 3 Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right. RHE 4 (105-4) Remember us, O Lord, in the favour of thy people: visit us with thy salvation. NIV 4 Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, RHE 5 (105-5) That we may see the good of thy chosen, that we may rejoice in the joy of thy nation: that thou mayst be praised with thy inheritance. NIV 5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. RHE 6 (105-6) We have sinned with our fathers: we have acted unjustly, we have wrought iniquity. NIV 6 We have sinned, even as our fathers did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. RHE 7 (105-7) Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt: they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies: And they provoked to wrath going up to the sea, even the Red Sea. NIV 7 When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. RHE 8 (105-8) And he saved them for his own name’s sake: that he might make his power known. NIV 8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known. RHE 9 (105-9) And he rebuked the Red Sea and it was dried up: and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness. NIV 9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. RHE 10 (105-10) And he saved them from the hand of them that hated them: and he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. NIV 11 The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. RHE 12 (105-12) And they believed his words: and they sang his praises. NIV 12 Then they believed his promises and sang his praise. RHE 13 (105-13) They had quickly done, they forgot his works: and they waited not for his counsel. NIV 13 But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel. RHE 14 (105-14) And they coveted their desire in the desert: and they tempted God in the place without water. NIV 14 In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland they put God to the test. RHE 15 (105-15) And he gave them their request: and sent fulness into their souls. NIV 15 So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease upon them. RHE 16 (105-16) And they provoked Moses in the camp, Aaron the holy one of the Lord. NIV 16 In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD. RHE 17 (105-17) The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan: and covered the congregation of Abiron. NIV 17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram. RHE 18 (105-18) And a fire was kindled in their congregation: the flame burned the wicked. NIV 18 Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked. RHE 19 (105-19) They made also a calf in Horeb: and they adored the graven thing. NIV 19 At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal. RHE 20 (105-20) And they changed their glory into the likeness of a calf that eateth grass. NIV 20 They exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull, which eats grass. RHE 21 (105-21) They forgot God, who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, NIV 21 They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, RHE 22 (105-22) Wondrous works in the land of Cham: terrible things in the Red Sea. NIV 22 miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. RHE 23 (105-23) And he said that he would destroy them: had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach: To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. NIV 23 So he said he would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. RHE 24 (105-24) And they set at nought the desirable land. They believed not his word, NIV 24 Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. RHE 25 (105-25) And they murmured in their tents: they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord. NIV 25 They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD. RHE 26 (105-26) And he lifted up his hand over them: to overthrow them in the desert; NIV 26 So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the desert, RHE 27 (105-27) And to cast down their seed among the nations, and to scatter them in the countries. NIV 27 make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands. RHE 28 (105-28) They also were initiated to Beelpheor: and ate the sacrifices of the dead. NIV 28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods; RHE 29 (105-29) And they provoked him with their inventions: and destruction was multiplied among them. NIV 29 they provoked the LORD to anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them. RHE 30 (105-30) Then Phinees stood up, and pacified him: and the slaughter ceased. NIV 30 But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked. RHE 31 (105-31) And it was reputed to him unto justice, to generation and generation for evermore. NIV 31 This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come. RHE 32 (105-32) They provoked him also at the waters of contradiction: and Moses was afflicted for their sakes: NIV 32 By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them; RHE 33 (105-33) Because they exasperated his spirit. And he distinguished with his lips. NIV 33 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips. RHE 34 (105-34) They did not destroy the nations of which the Lord spoke unto them. NIV 34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, RHE 35 (105-35) And they were mingled among the heathens, and learned their works: NIV 35 but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. RHE 36 (105-36) And served their idols, and it became a stumblingblock to them. NIV 36 They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. RHE 37 (105-37) And they sacrificed their sons, and their daughters to devils. NIV 37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. RHE 38 (105-38) And they shed innocent blood: the blood of their sons and of their daughters which they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan. And the land was polluted with blood, NIV 38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. RHE 39 (105-39) And was defiled with their works: and they went aside after their own inventions. NIV 39 They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves. RHE 40 (105-40) And the Lord was exceedingly angry with his people: and he abhorred his inheritance. NIV 40 Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. RHE 41 (105-41) And he delivered them into the hands of the nations: and they that hated them had dominion over them. NIV 41 He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them. RHE 42 (105-42) And their enemies afflicted them: and they were humbled under their hands: NIV 42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. RHE 43 (105-43) Many times did he deliver them. But they provoked him with their counsel: and they were brought low by their iniquities. NIV 43 Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. RHE 44 (105-44) And he saw when they were in tribulation: and he heard their prayer. NIV 44 But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; RHE 45 (105-45) And he was mindful of his covenant: and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. NIV 45 for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. RHE 46 (105-46) And he gave them unto mercies, in the sight of all those that had made them captives. NIV 46 He caused them to be pitied by all who held them captive. RHE 47 (105-47) Save us, O Lord, our God: and gather us from among the nations: That we may give thanks to thy holy name, and may glory in thy praise. NIV 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. RHE 48 (105-48) Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say: So be it, so be it. NIV 48 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.
