Psalm 112

RSV 1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. RSV 2 His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. NIV 2 His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. RSV 3 Wealth and riches are in his house; and his righteousness endures for ever. NIV 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. RSV 4 Light rises in the darkness for the upright; the LORD is gracious, merciful, and righteous. NIV 4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. RSV 5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice. NIV 5 Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. RSV 6 For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever. NIV 6 Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. RSV 7 He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. NIV 7 He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. RSV 8 His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries. NIV 8 His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes. RSV 9 He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever; his horn is exalted in honor. NIV 9 He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor. RSV 10 The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked man comes to nought. NIV 10 The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
