Psalm 118

RHE 1 (117-1) Give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. RHE 2 (117-2) Let Israel now say, that he is good: that his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 2 Let Israel say: "His love endures forever." RHE 3 (117-3) Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 3 Let the house of Aaron say: "His love endures forever." RHE 4 (117-4) Let them that fear the Lord now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 4 Let those who fear the LORD say: "His love endures forever." RHE 5 (117-5) In my trouble I called upon the Lord: and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me. NIV 5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free. RHE 6 (117-6) The Lord is my helper: I will not fear what man can do unto me. NIV 6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? RHE 7 (117-7) The Lord is my helper: and I will look over my enemies. NIV 7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. RHE 8 (117-8) It is good to confide in the Lord, rather than to have confidence in man. NIV 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. RHE 9 (117-9) It is good to trust in the Lord, rather than to trust in princes. NIV 9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. RHE 10 (117-10) All nations compassed me about; and, in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them. NIV 10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. RHE 11 (117-11) Surrounding me they compassed me about: and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them. NIV 11 They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. RHE 12 (117-12) They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: and in the name of the Lord I was revenged on them. NIV 12 They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off. RHE 13 (117-13) Being pushed I was overturned that I might fall: but the Lord supported me. NIV 13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. RHE 14 (117-14) The Lord is my strength and my praise: and he is become my salvation. NIV 14 The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. RHE 15 (117-15) The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just. NIV 15 Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: "The LORD's right hand has done mighty things! RHE 16 (117-16) The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right hand of the Lord hath exalted me: the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength. NIV 16 The LORD's right hand is lifted high; the LORD's right hand has done mighty things!" RHE 17 (117-17) I shall not die, but live: and shall declare the works of the Lord. NIV 17 I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. RHE 18 (117-18) The Lord chastising hath chastised me: but he hath not delivered me over to death. NIV 18 The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. RHE 19 (117-19) Open ye to me the gates of justice: I will go in to them, and give praise to the Lord. NIV 19 Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD. RHE 20 (117-20) This is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it. NIV 20 This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter. RHE 21 (117-21) I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: and art become my salvation. NIV 21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. RHE 22 (117-22) The stone which the builders rejected; the same is become the head of the corner. NIV 22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; RHE 23 (117-23) This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful in our eyes. NIV 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. RHE 24 (117-24) This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein. NIV 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. RHE 25 (117-25) O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success. NIV 25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success. RHE 26 (117-26) Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord. We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord. NIV 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. RHE 27 (117-27) The Lord is God, and he hath shone upon us. Appoint a solemn day, with shady boughs, even to the horn of the altar. NIV 27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. RHE 28 (117-28) Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, and I will exalt thee. I will praise thee, because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. NIV 28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. RHE 29 (117-29) O praise ye the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. NIV 29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
