Psalm 119

RSV 1 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD! NIV 1 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. RSV 2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, NIV 2 Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. RSV 3 who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! NIV 3 They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. RSV 4 Thou hast commanded thy precepts to be kept diligently. NIV 4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. RSV 5 O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping thy statutes! NIV 5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! RSV 6 Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all thy commandments. NIV 6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. RSV 7 I will praise thee with an upright heart, when I learn thy righteous ordinances. NIV 7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. RSV 8 I will observe thy statutes; O forsake me not utterly! NIV 8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. RSV 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to thy word. NIV 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. RSV 10 With my whole heart I seek thee; let me not wander from thy commandments! NIV 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. RSV 17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live and observe thy word. RSV 23 Even though princes sit plotting against me, thy servant will meditate on thy statutes. NIV 23 Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. RSV 24 Thy testimonies are my delight, they are my counselors. NIV 24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. RSV 25 My soul cleaves to the dust; revive me according to thy word! NIV 39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. RSV 40 Behold, I long for thy precepts; in thy righteousness give me life! NIV 40 How I long for your precepts! Preserve my life in your righteousness. RSV 41 Let thy steadfast love come to me, O LORD, thy salvation according to thy promise; NIV 41 May your unfailing love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; RSV 42 then shall I have an answer for those who taunt me, for I trust in thy word. NIV 42 then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word. RSV 43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in thy ordinances. NIV 43 Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. RSV 44 I will keep thy law continually, for ever and ever; NIV 44 I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. RSV 45 and I shall walk at liberty, for I have sought thy precepts. NIV 83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. RSV 84 How long must thy servant endure? When wilt thou judge those who persecute me? NIV 84 How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? RSV 85 Godless men have dug pitfalls for me, men who do not conform to thy law. NIV 85 The arrogant dig pitfalls for me, contrary to your law. RSV 86 All thy commandments are sure; they persecute me with falsehood; help me! NIV 86 All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for men persecute me without cause. RSV 87 They have almost made an end of me on earth; but I have not forsaken thy precepts. NIV 87 They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. RSV 88 In thy steadfast love spare my life, that I may keep the testimonies of thy mouth. NIV 88 Preserve my life according to your love, and I will obey the statutes of your mouth. RSV 89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is firmly fixed in the heavens. NIV 89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. RSV 90 Thy faithfulness endures to all generations; thou hast established the earth, and it stands fast.
