CJB 1 A song of ascents: I called to ADONAI in my distress, and he answered me. NIV 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. CJB 2 Rescue me, ADONAI, from lips that tell lies, from a tongue full of deceit. NIV 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. CJB 3 What has he in store for you, deceitful tongue? What more will he do to you? NIV 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue? CJB 4 A warrior's sharp arrows, with red-hot coals from a broom tree. NIV 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree. CJB 5 How wretched I am, that I'm an alien in Meshekh, that I must live among the tents of Keidar! NIV 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! CJB 6 I have had to live far too long with those who hate peace. NIV 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. CJB 7 I am all for peace; but when I speak, they are for war. NIV 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
