NCV 1 When I was in trouble, I called to the Lord, and he answered me. NIV 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. NCV 2 Lord, save me from liars and from those who plan evil. NIV 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. NCV 3 You who plan evil, what will God do to you? How will he punish you? NIV 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue? NCV 4 He will punish you with the sharp arrows of a warrior and with burning coals of wood. NIV 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree. NCV 5 How terrible it is for me to live in the land of Meshech, to live among the people of Kedar. NIV 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! NCV 6 I have lived too long with people who hate peace. NIV 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. NCV 7 When I talk peace, they want war. A song for going up to worship. NIV 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
