YLT 1 A Song of the Ascents, by David. Save [for] Jehovah -- who hath been for us, (Pray, let Israel say), NIV 1 If the LORD had not been on our side-- let Israel say-- YLT 2 Save [for] Jehovah -- who hath been for us, In the rising up of man against us, NIV 2 if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us, YLT 3 Then alive they had swallowed us up, In the burning of their anger against us, NIV 3 when their anger flared against us, they would have swallowed us alive; YLT 4 Then the waters had overflowed us, The stream passed over our soul, NIV 4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, YLT 5 Then passed over our soul had the proud waters. NIV 5 the raging waters would have swept us away. YLT 6 Blessed [is] Jehovah who hath not given us, A prey to their teeth. NIV 6 Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. YLT 7 Our soul as a bird hath escaped from a snare of fowlers, The snare was broken, and we have escaped. NIV 7 We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. YLT 8 Our help [is] in the name of Jehovah, Maker of the heavens and earth! NIV 8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
