Psalm 132

NRS 1 O Lord, remember in David's favor all the hardships he endured; NIV 1 O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured. NRS 2 how he swore to the Lord and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, NIV 2 He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob: NRS 3 "I will not enter my house or get into my bed; NIV 3 "I will not enter my house or go to my bed-- NRS 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, NIV 4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, NRS 5 until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." NIV 5 till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." NRS 6 We heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. NIV 6 We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar: NRS 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool." NIV 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool-- NRS 8 Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. NIV 8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. NRS 9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your faithful shout for joy. NIV 9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy." NRS 10 For your servant David's sake do not turn away the face of your anointed one. NIV 10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed one. NRS 11 The Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: "One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. NIV 11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne-- NRS 12 If your sons keep my covenant and my decrees that I shall teach them, their sons also, forevermore, shall sit on your throne." NIV 12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever." NRS 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation: NIV 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling: NRS 14 "This is my resting place forever; here I will reside, for I have desired it. NIV 14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it-- NRS 15 I will abundantly bless its provisions; I will satisfy its poor with bread. NIV 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. NRS 16 Its priests I will clothe with salvation, and its faithful will shout for joy. NIV 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy. NRS 17 There I will cause a horn to sprout up for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one. NIV 17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. NRS 18 His enemies I will clothe with disgrace, but on him, his crown will gleam." NIV 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."
