CEB 1 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD's name! All you who serve the LORD, praise God! NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD, CEB 2 All you who stand in the LORD's house— who stand in the courtyards of our God's temple— NIV 2 you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. CEB 3 praise the LORD, because the LORD is good! Sing praises to God's name because it is beautiful! NIV 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. CEB 4 Because the LORD chose Jacob as his own, God chose Israel as his treasured possession. NIV 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession. CEB 5 Yes, I know for certain that the LORD is great— I know our Lord is greater than all other gods. NIV 5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. CEB 6 The LORD can do whatever he wants in heaven or on earth, in the seas and in every ocean depth. NIV 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. CEB 7 God forms clouds at the far corners of the earth. God makes lightning for the rain. God releases the wind from its storeroom. NIV 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. CEB 8 God struck down the Egyptians' oldest offspring— both human and animal! NIV 8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals. CEB 9 God sent signs and wonders into the very center of Egypt— against Pharaoh and all his servants. NIV 9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants. CEB 10 God struck down many nations and killed mighty kings: NIV 10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings-- CEB 11 Sihon the Amorite king, Og the king of Bashan, and all the Canaanite kings. NIV 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan-- CEB 12 Then God handed their land over as an inheritance— as an inheritance to Israel, his own people. NIV 12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel. CEB 13 LORD, your name is forever! LORD, your fame extends from one generation to the next! NIV 13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations. CEB 14 The LORD gives justice to his people and has compassion on those who serve him. NIV 14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. CEB 15 The nations' idols are just silver and gold— things made by human hands. NIV 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. CEB 16 They have mouths, but they can't speak. They have eyes, but they can't see. NIV 16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; CEB 17 They have ears, but they can't listen. No, there's no breath in their lungs! NIV 17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. CEB 18 Let the people who made these idols and all who trust in them become just like them! NIV 18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them. CEB 19 House of Israel, bless the LORD! House of Aaron, bless the LORD! NIV 19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD; CEB 20 House of Levi, bless the LORD! You who honor the LORD, bless the LORD! NIV 20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD. CEB 21 Bless the LORD from Zion— bless the one who lives in Jerusalem! Praise the LORD! NIV 21 Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
