Psalm 138

ASV 1 I will give thee thanks with my whole heart: Before the gods will I sing praises unto thee. NIV 1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise. ASV 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, And give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. NIV 2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. ASV 3 In the day that I called thou answeredst me, Thou didst encourage me with strength in my soul. NIV 3 When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted. ASV 4 All the kings of the earth shall give thee thanks, O Jehovah, For they have heard the words of thy mouth. NIV 4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. ASV 5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of Jehovah; For great is the glory of Jehovah. NIV 5 May they sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great. ASV 6 For though Jehovah is high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly; But the haughty he knoweth from afar. NIV 6 Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. ASV 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; Thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of mine enemies, And thy right hand will save me. NIV 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. ASV 8 Jehovah will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, [endureth] for ever; Forsake not the works of thine own hands. NIV 8 The LORD will fulfill [his purpose] for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever-- do not abandon the works of your hands.
