NAS 1 Rescue me, O LORD , from evil men; Preserve me from violent men NIV 1 Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men; protect me from men of violence, NAS 2 Who devise evil things in their hearts; They continually stir up wars. NIV 2 who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day. NAS 3 They sharpen their tongues as a serpent; Poison of a viper is under their lips. Selah. NIV 3 They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's; the poison of vipers is on their lips. "Selah" NAS 4 Keep me, O LORD , from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from violent men Who have purposed to trip up my feet. NIV 4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from men of violence who plan to trip my feet. NAS 5 The proud have hidden a trap for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set snares for me. Selah. NIV 5 Proud men have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path. "Selah" NAS 6 I said to the LORD , "You are my God; Give ear, O LORD , to the voice of my supplications. NIV 6 O LORD, I say to you, "You are my God." Hear, O LORD, my cry for mercy. NAS 7 "O GOD the Lord , the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle. NIV 7 O Sovereign LORD, my strong deliverer, who shields my head in the day of battle-- NAS 8 "Do not grant, O LORD , the desires of the wicked; Do not promote his evil device, that they not be exalted. Selah. NIV 8 do not grant the wicked their desires, O LORD; do not let their plans succeed, or they will become proud. "Selah" NAS 9 "As for the head of those who surround me, May the mischief of their lips cover them. NIV 9 Let the heads of those who surround me be covered with the trouble their lips have caused. NAS 10 "May burning coals fall upon them; May they be cast into the fire, Into deep pits from which they cannot rise. NIV 10 Let burning coals fall upon them; may they be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, never to rise. NAS 11 "May a slanderer not be established in the earth; May evil hunt the violent man speedily." NIV 11 Let slanderers not be established in the land; may disaster hunt down men of violence. NAS 12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted And justice for the poor. NIV 12 I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy. NAS 13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name; The upright will dwell in Your presence. NIV 13 Surely the righteous will praise your name and the upright will live before you.
