Psalm 141

DBY 1 {A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, I have called upon thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I call unto thee. NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. DBY 2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening oblation. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. DBY 3 Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. DBY 4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise deeds of wickedness with men that are workers of iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. DBY 5 Let the righteous smite me, it is kindness; and let him reprove me, it is an excellent oil which my head shall not refuse: for yet my prayer also is [for them] in their calamities. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; DBY 6 When their judges are thrown down from the rocks, they shall hear my words, for they are sweet. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. DBY 7 Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol, as when one cutteth and cleaveth [wood] upon the earth. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " DBY 8 For unto thee, Jehovah, Lord, are mine eyes; in thee do I trust: leave not my soul destitute. NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. DBY 9 Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. DBY 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that *I* withal pass over. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
