Psalm 141

WBT 1 A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry to thee: make haste to me; give ear to my voice, when I cry to thee. NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. WBT 2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee [as] incense; [and] the lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. WBT 3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. WBT 4 Incline not my heart to [any] evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. WBT 5 Let the righteous smite me; [it shall be] a kindness: and let him reprove me; [it shall be] an excellent oil, [which] shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also [shall be] in their calamities. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; WBT 6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. WBT 7 Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth [wood] upon the earth. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " WBT 8 But my eyes [are] to thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. WBT 9 Keep me from the snare [which] they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. WBT 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst I escape. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
