Psalm 142

TMB 1 <<A Psalm of David giving instruction. A prayer when he was in the cave.>> I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication. NIV 1 I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy. TMB 2 I poured out my complaint before Him; I laid before Him my trouble. NIV 2 I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble. TMB 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then Thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. NIV 3 When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me. TMB 4 I looked on my right hand and beheld, but there was no man that would know me. Refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. NIV 4 Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. TMB 5 I cried unto Thee, O LORD; I said, "Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. NIV 5 I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." TMB 6 Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. NIV 6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. TMB 7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Thy name; the righteous shall compass me about, for Thou shalt deal bountifully with me." NIV 7 Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.
