Psalm 143

DBY 1 {A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, in thy righteousness. NIV 1 O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. DBY 2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified. NIV 2 Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you. DBY 3 For the enemy persecuteth my soul: he hath crushed my life down to the earth; he hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead. NIV 3 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead. DBY 4 And my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. NIV 4 So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. DBY 5 I remember the days of old: I meditate on all thy doing; I muse on the work of thy hands. NIV 5 I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. DBY 6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul, as a parched land, [thirsteth] after thee. Selah. NIV 6 I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. "Selah" DBY 7 Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, or I shall be like unto them that go down into the pit. NIV 7 Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. DBY 8 Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning, for in thee do I confide; make me to know the way wherein I should walk, for unto thee do I lift up my soul. NIV 8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. DBY 9 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: unto thee do I flee for refuge. NIV 9 Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. DBY 10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: let thy good Spirit lead me in a plain country. NIV 10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. DBY 11 Revive me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble; NIV 11 For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. DBY 12 And in thy loving-kindness cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that oppress my soul: for I am thy servant. NIV 12 In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.
