Psalm 147

GNT 1 Praise the Lord! It is good to sing praise to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him. NIV 1 Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! GNT 2 The Lord is restoring Jerusalem; he is bringing back the exiles. NIV 2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. GNT 3 He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds. NIV 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. GNT 4 He has decided the number of the stars and calls each one by name. NIV 4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. GNT 5 Great and mighty is our Lord; his wisdom cannot be measured. NIV 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. GNT 6 He raises the humble, but crushes the wicked to the ground. NIV 6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. GNT 7 Sing hymns of praise to the Lord; play music on the harp to our God. NIV 7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp. GNT 8 He spreads clouds over the sky; he provides rain for the earth and makes grass grow on the hills. NIV 8 He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. GNT 9 He gives animals their food and feeds the young ravens when they call. NIV 9 He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. GNT 10 His pleasure is not in strong horses, nor his delight in brave soldiers; NIV 10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; GNT 11 but he takes pleasure in those who honor him, in those who trust in his constant love. NIV 11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. GNT 12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! NIV 12 Extol the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion, GNT 13 He keeps your gates strong; he blesses your people. NIV 13 for he strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. GNT 14 He keeps your borders safe and satisfies you with the finest wheat. NIV 14 He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. GNT 15 He gives a command to the earth, and what he says is quickly done. NIV 15 He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. GNT 16 He spreads snow like a blanket and scatters frost like dust. NIV 16 He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. GNT 17 He sends hail like gravel; no one can endure the cold he sends! NIV 17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast? GNT 18 Then he gives a command, and the ice melts; he sends the wind, and the water flows. NIV 18 He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. GNT 19 He gives his message to his people, his instructions and laws to Israel. NIV 19 He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. GNT 20 He has not done this for other nations; they do not know his laws. Praise the Lord! NIV 20 He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.
