Psalm 149

GNT 1 Praise the Lord! Sing a new song to the Lord; praise him in the assembly of his faithful people! NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. GNT 2 Be glad, Israel, because of your Creator; rejoice, people of Zion, because of your king! NIV 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. GNT 3 Praise his name with dancing; play drums and harps in praise of him. NIV 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. GNT 4 The Lord takes pleasure in his people; he honors the humble with victory. NIV 4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. GNT 5 Let God's people rejoice in their triumph and sing joyfully all night long. NIV 5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. GNT 6 Let them shout aloud as they praise God, with their sharp swords in their hands NIV 6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, GNT 7 to defeat the nations and to punish the peoples; NIV 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, GNT 8 to bind their kings in chains, their leaders in chains of iron; NIV 8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, GNT 9 to punish the nations as God has commanded. This is the victory of God's people. Praise the Lord! NIV 9 to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the LORD.
