Psalm 149

NRS 1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful. NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. NRS 2 Let Israel be glad in its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. NIV 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. NRS 3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre. NIV 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. NRS 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory. NIV 4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. NRS 5 Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches. NIV 5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. NRS 6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, NIV 6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, NRS 7 to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, NIV 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, NRS 8 to bind their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron, NIV 8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, NRS 9 to execute on them the judgment decreed. This is glory for all his faithful ones. Praise the Lord! NIV 9 to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the LORD.
