HNV 2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. NIV 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. HNV 3 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. NIV 3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. HNV 4 The cords of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid. NIV 4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. HNV 5 The cords of She'ol were round about me; The snares of death came on me. NIV 5 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. NIV 6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. HNV 7 Then the eretz shook and trembled. The foundations also of the mountains quaked and were shaken, Because he was angry. NIV 7 The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry. HNV 8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, Fire out of his mouth devoured; Coals were kindled by it. NIV 8 Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it. HNV 9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down. Thick darkness was under his feet. NIV 9 He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. HNV 10 He rode on a Keruv, and flew. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind. NIV 10 He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind. HNV 11 He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion around him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. NIV 11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him-- the dark rain clouds of the sky. HNV 12 At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, Hailstones and coals of fire. NIV 12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning. HNV 13 The LORD also thundered in the sky, The Elyon uttered his voice, Hailstones and coals of fire. NIV 13 The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded. HNV 14 He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; Yes, lightnings manifold, and routed them. NIV 14 He shot his arrows and scattered [the enemies], great bolts of lightning and routed them. HNV 15 Then the channels of waters appeared, The foundations of the world were laid bare, At your rebuke, LORD, At the blast of the breath of your nostrils. NIV 15 The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils. HNV 16 He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters. NIV 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. HNV 17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me. NIV 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. HNV 18 They came on me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support. NIV 18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. HNV 19 He brought me forth also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me. NIV 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. HNV 20 The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me. HNV 21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not wickedly departed from my God. NIV 21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not done evil by turning from my God. NIV 28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. HNV 29 For by you, I advance through a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. NIV 29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. HNV 30 As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. NIV 30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. HNV 34 He teaches my hands to war; So that my arms bend a bow of bronze. NIV 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. HNV 35 You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great. NIV 35 You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. HNV 36 You have enlarged my steps under me, My feet have not slipped. NIV 36 You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. HNV 37 I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them. Neither will I turn again until they are consumed. NIV 38 I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. HNV 39 For you have girded me with strength to the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
