Psalm 19

DBY 1 {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands. NIV 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. DBY 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. NIV 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. DBY 3 There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard. NIV 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. DBY 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun, NIV 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, DBY 5 And he is as a bridegroom going forth from his chamber; he rejoiceth as a strong man to run the race. NIV 5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. DBY 6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. NIV 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat. DBY 7 The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple; NIV 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. DBY 8 The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes; NIV 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. DBY 9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether: NIV 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. DBY 10 They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb. NIV 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. DBY 11 Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward. NIV 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. DBY 12 Who understandeth [his] errors? Purify me from secret [faults]. NIV 12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. DBY 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be innocent from great transgression. NIV 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. DBY 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer. NIV 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
