Psalm 19

GW 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made. NIV 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. GW 2 One day tells a story to the next. One night shares knowledge with the next NIV 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. GW 3 without talking, without words, without their voices being heard. NIV 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. GW 4 [Yet,] their sound has gone out into the entire world, their message to the ends of the earth. He has set up a tent in the heavens for the sun, NIV 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, GW 5 which comes out of its chamber like a bridegroom. Like a champion, it is eager to run its course. NIV 5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. GW 6 It rises from one end of the heavens. It circles around to the other. Nothing is hidden from its heat. NIV 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat. GW 7 The teachings of the LORD are perfect. They renew the soul. The testimony of the LORD is dependable. It makes gullible people wise. NIV 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. GW 8 The instructions of the LORD are correct. They make the heart rejoice. The command of the LORD is radiant. It makes the eyes shine. NIV 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. GW 9 The fear of the LORD is pure. It endures forever. The decisions of the LORD are true. They are completely fair. NIV 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. GW 10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the drippings from a honeycomb. NIV 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. GW 11 As your servant I am warned by them. There is a great reward in following them. NIV 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. GW 12 Who can notice every mistake? Forgive my hidden faults. NIV 12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. GW 13 Keep me from sinning. Do not let anyone gain control over me. Then I will be blameless, and I will be free from any great offense. NIV 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. GW 14 May the words from my mouth and the thoughts from my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my defender. NIV 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
