Psalm 2

YLT 1 Why have nations tumultuously assembled? And do peoples meditate vanity? NIV 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? YLT 2 Station themselves do kings of the earth, And princes have been united together, Against Jehovah, and against His Messiah: NIV 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. YLT 3 `Let us draw off Their cords, And cast from us Their thick bands.' NIV 3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters." YLT 4 He who is sitting in the heavens doth laugh, The Lord doth mock at them. NIV 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. YLT 5 Then doth He speak unto them in His anger, And in His wrath He doth trouble them: NIV 5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, YLT 6 `And I -- I have anointed My King, Upon Zion -- My holy hill.' NIV 6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill." YLT 7 I declare concerning a statute: Jehovah said unto me, `My Son Thou [art], I to-day have brought thee forth. NIV 7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. YLT 8 Ask of Me and I give nations -- thy inheritance, And thy possession -- the ends of earth. NIV 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. YLT 9 Thou dost rule them with a sceptre of iron, As a vessel of a potter Thou dost crush them.' NIV 9 You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery." YLT 10 And now, O kings, act wisely, Be instructed, O judges of earth, NIV 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. YLT 11 Serve ye Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling. NIV 11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. YLT 12 Kiss the Chosen One, lest He be angry, And ye lose the way, When His anger burneth but a little, O the happiness of all trusting in Him! NIV 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
