Psalm 22

HNV 1 <<For the Chief Musician; set to "The Doe of the Morning." A Psalm by David.>> My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? NIV 1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning? HNV 2 My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don't answer; In the night season, and am not silent. NIV 2 O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent. HNV 3 But you are holy, You who inhabit the praises of Yisra'el. NIV 3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel. HNV 4 Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted, and you delivered them. NIV 4 In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. HNV 5 They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not put to shame. NIV 5 They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed. HNV 6 But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. NIV 6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people. HNV 7 All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying, NIV 7 All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads: HNV 8 "He trusts in the LORD; Let him deliver him; Let him rescue him, since he delights in him." NIV 8 "He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him." HNV 9 But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust at my mother's breasts. NIV 9 Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast. HNV 10 I was thrown on you from my mother's womb. You are my God since my mother bore me. NIV 10 From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God. HNV 11 Don't be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is none to help. NIV 11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. HNV 12 Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. NIV 12 Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. HNV 13 They open their mouths wide against me, Lions tearing prey and roaring. NIV 13 Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me. HNV 14 I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death. A company of evil-doers have enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet. NIV 16 Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. HNV 17 I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me. NIV 17 I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. HNV 18 They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing. NIV 18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. HNV 19 But don't be far off, LORD. You are my help: hurry to help me. NIV 19 But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. HNV 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog. NIV 22 I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. HNV 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Ya`akov, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Yisra'el! NIV 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! HNV 24 For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hid his face from him; But when he cried to him, he heard. NIV 24 For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. HNV 25 Of you comes my praise in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him. NIV 25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you will I fulfill my vows. HNV 26 The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise the LORD who seek after him. Let your hearts live forever. NIV 26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the LORD will praise him-- may your hearts live forever! HNV 27 All the ends of the eretz shall remember and turn to the LORD. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you. NIV 27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, HNV 28 For the kingdom is the LORD's. He is the ruler over the nations. NIV 28 for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. HNV 29 All the rich ones of the eretz shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, Even he who can't keep his soul alive. NIV 29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who cannot keep themselves alive. HNV 30 Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord. NIV 30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. HNV 31 They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, For he has done it. NIV 31 They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn-- for he has done it.
