LEB 1 My God, my God why have you forsaken me? [Why are you] far from helping me, [far from] the words of my groaning? NIV 1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? NIV 2 O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent. LEB 3 Yet you [are] holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. NIV 3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel. LEB 4 Our ancestors trusted you; they trusted and you delivered them. NIV 4 In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. LEB 5 They cried to you and were saved; they trusted you and were not ashamed. NIV 5 They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed. LEB 6 But I [am] a worm and not a man, scorned by humankind and despised by people. NIV 6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people. LEB 7 All [who] see me mock me. They open wide [their] lips; they shake [the] head, [saying]: NIV 7 All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads: LEB 8 "{He trusts Yahweh}. Let him rescue him. Let him deliver him because he delights in him." NIV 8 "He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him." LEB 9 Yet [you] took me from [the] belly; you made me trust [while] on my mother's breasts. NIV 9 Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast. LEB 10 On you I was cast from [the] womb. From my mother's belly you [have been] my God. NIV 10 From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God. LEB 11 Do not be far from me because trouble [is] near; because there is no helper. NIV 11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. LEB 12 Many bulls have encircled me; mighty [bulls] of Bashan have surrounded me. NIV 12 Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. LEB 13 They open their mouth against me [like] a lion tearing and roaring. NIV 13 Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me. LEB 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it is melted {within me}. NIV 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me. LEB 15 My strength is dry like a potsherd, and my tongue is sticking [to] my jaws; and you have placed me in [the] dust of death. NIV 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. LEB 16 Because dogs have surrounded me; a gang of evildoers has encircled me. Like the lion [they are at] my hands and my feet. NIV 16 Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. LEB 17 I can count all my bones; they gaze, they look at me. NIV 17 I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. LEB 18 They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. NIV 18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. LEB 19 But you, O Yahweh, do not remain distant. O my help, hasten to help me. NIV 19 But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. LEB 20 Rescue my life from [the] sword, my only [life] from [the] power of [the] dogs. NIV 20 Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. LEB 21 Save me from [the] mouth of [the] lion, and from [the] horns of [the] wild oxen answer me. NIV 21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. LEB 22 I will tell your name to my brothers; inside [the] assembly I will praise you. NIV 22 I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. LEB 23 You who revere Yahweh, praise him! Glorify him, all [you] seed of Jacob, and be in awe of him, all [you] seed of Israel, NIV 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! NIV 24 For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. LEB 25 From you [is] my praise. All [the] families of [the] nations will worship before you. NIV 27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, LEB 28 Because the kingship belongs to Yahweh, and [he] rules over the nations. NIV 28 for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. LEB 29 All [the] {healthy ones} of [the] earth will eat and worship. Before him all [of] those descending [into the] dust will kneel, even he [who] cannot keep his soul alive. NIV 29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who cannot keep themselves alive. LEB 30 Descendants will serve him.
