Psalm 25

RSV 1 A Psalm of David. To thee, O LORD, I lift up my soul. NIV 1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; RSV 2 O my God, in thee I trust, let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. NIV 2 in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. RSV 3 Yea, let none that wait for thee be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. NIV 3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse. RSV 4 Make me to know thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. NIV 4 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; RSV 5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation; for thee I wait all the day long. NIV 5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. RSV 6 Be mindful of thy mercy, O LORD, and of thy steadfast love, for they have been from of old. NIV 6 Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. RSV 7 Remember not the sins of my youth, or my transgressions; according to thy steadfast love remember me, for thy goodness' sake, O LORD! NIV 7 Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD. RSV 8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. NIV 8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. RSV 9 He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. NIV 9 He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. RSV 10 All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. NIV 10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant. RSV 11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. NIV 11 For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. RSV 12 Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. NIV 12 Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. RSV 13 He himself shall abide in prosperity, and his children shall possess the land. NIV 13 He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. RSV 14 The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. NIV 14 The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. RSV 15 My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. NIV 15 My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare. RSV 16 Turn thou to me, and be gracious to me; for I am lonely and afflicted. NIV 16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. RSV 17 Relieve the troubles of my heart, and bring me out of my distresses. NIV 17 The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. RSV 18 Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. NIV 18 Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. RSV 19 Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. NIV 19 See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me! RSV 20 Oh guard my life, and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee. NIV 20 Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. RSV 21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for thee. NIV 21 May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you. RSV 22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. NIV 22 Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
