Psalm 30

ASV 1 I will extol thee, O Jehovah; For thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. NIV 1 I will exalt you, O LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. ASV 2 O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. NIV 2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. ASV 3 O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. NIV 3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit. ASV 4 Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial [name]. NIV 4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name. ASV 5 For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy [cometh] in the morning. NIV 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. ASV 6 As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved. NIV 6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." ASV 7 Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled. NIV 7 O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. ASV 8 I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication: NIV 8 To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: ASV 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? NIV 9 "What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? ASV 10 Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, be thou my helper. NIV 10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help." ASV 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; NIV 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, ASV 12 To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. NIV 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
