Psalm 30

MSG 1 I give you all the credit, God - you got me out of that mess, you didn't let my foes gloat. NIV 1 I will exalt you, O LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. MSG 2 God, my God, I yelled for help and you put me together. NIV 2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. MSG 3 God, you pulled me out of the grave, gave me another chance at life when I was down-and-out. NIV 3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit. MSG 4 All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God! Thank him to his face! NIV 4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name. MSG 5 He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter. NIV 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. MSG 6 When things were going great I crowed, "I've got it made. NIV 6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." MSG 7 I'm God's favorite. He made me king of the mountain." Then you looked the other way and I fell to pieces. NIV 7 O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. MSG 8 I called out to you, God; I laid my case before you: NIV 8 To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: MSG 9 "Can you sell me for a profit when I'm dead? auction me off at a cemetery yard sale? When I'm 'dust to dust' my songs and stories of you won't sell. NIV 9 "What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? MSG 10 So listen! and be kind! Help me out of this!" NIV 10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help." MSG 11 You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. NIV 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, MSG 12 I'm about to burst with song; I can't keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can't thank you enough. NIV 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
