Psalm 31

WEB 1 <<For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.>> In you, Yahweh, do I take refuge. Let me never be put to shame: Deliver me in your righteousness. NIV 1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. WEB 2 Bow down your ear to me. Deliver me speedily. Be to me a strong rock, A house of defense to save me. NIV 2 Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. WEB 3 For you are my rock and my fortress, Therefore for your name's sake lead me and guide me. NIV 3 Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. WEB 4 Pluck me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me, For you are my stronghold. NIV 4 Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. WEB 5 Into your hand I commend my spirit. You redeem me, Yahweh, God of truth. NIV 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth. WEB 6 I hate those who regard lying vanities, But I trust in Yahweh. NIV 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I trust in the LORD. WEB 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your lovingkindness, For you have seen my affliction. You have known my soul in adversities. NIV 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. WEB 8 You have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place. NIV 8 You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. WEB 9 Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am in distress. My eye, my soul, and my body waste away with grief. NIV 9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. WEB 10 For my life is spent with sorrow, My years with sighing. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away. NIV 10 My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak. WEB 11 Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, A fear to my acquaintances. Those who saw me on the street fled from me. NIV 11 Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors; I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me. WEB 12 I am forgotten from their hearts like a dead man. I am like broken pottery. NIV 12 I am forgotten by them as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery. WEB 13 For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side, While they conspire together against me, They plot to take away my life. NIV 13 For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side; they conspire against me and plot to take my life. WEB 14 But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, You are my God. NIV 14 But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God." WEB 15 My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me. NIV 15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. WEB 16 Make your face to shine on your servant. Save me in your lovingkindness. NIV 16 Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love. WEB 17 Let me not be put to shame, Yahweh, for I have called on you. Let the wicked be put to shame. Let them be silent in Sheol. NIV 17 Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and lie silent in the grave. WEB 18 Let the lying lips be mute, Which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt. NIV 18 Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. WEB 19 Oh how great is your goodness, Which you have laid up for those who fear you, Which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, Before the sons of men! NIV 19 How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you. WEB 20 In the covert of your presence will you hide them from the plotting of man. You will keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. NIV 20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues. WEB 21 Praise be to Yahweh, For he has shown me his marvelous lovingkindness in a strong city. NIV 21 Praise be to the LORD, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city. WEB 22 As for me, I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before your eyes." Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you. NIV 22 In my alarm I said, "I am cut off from your sight!" Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. WEB 23 Oh love Yahweh, all you his saints! Yahweh preserves the faithful, And pays back him who deals proudly in full. NIV 23 Love the LORD, all his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full. WEB 24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in Yahweh. NIV 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
