Psalm 33

WBT 1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: [for] praise is comely for the upright. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. WBT 2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing to him with the psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. WBT 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. WBT 4 For the word of the LORD [is] right; and all his works [are done] in truth. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. WBT 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. NIV 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. WBT 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. NIV 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. WBT 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap: he layeth up the depth in store-houses. NIV 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. WBT 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. NIV 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. WBT 9 For he spoke, and it was [done]; he commanded, and it stood fast. NIV 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. WBT 10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught: he maketh the devices of the people of no effect. NIV 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. WBT 11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. NIV 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. WBT 12 Blessed [is] the nation whose God [is] the LORD; [and] the people [whom] he hath chosen for his own inheritance. NIV 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. WBT 13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; WBT 14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- WBT 15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. WBT 16 There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. WBT 17 A horse [is] a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver [any] by his great strength. NIV 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. WBT 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, WBT 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. NIV 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. WBT 20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he [is] our help and our shield. NIV 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. WBT 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. NIV 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. WBT 22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. NIV 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
