Psalm 4

LEB 1 When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness. In trouble {deliver me}. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer. NIV 1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. LEB 2 O sons of man, how long will my honor be a disgrace? [How long] will you love vanity? [How long] will you seek lies? Selah NIV 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ? "Selah" LEB 3 But know that Yahweh has set apart for himself [the] faithful one. Yahweh hears when I call to him. NIV 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. LEB 4 Be disturbed but do not sin. Commune in your heart on your bed and be silent. Selah NIV 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. "Selah" LEB 5 Offer correct sacrifices, and {trust in} Yahweh. NIV 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. LEB 6 Many are saying, "Who will show us [something] good?" Lift up over us the light of your face, O Yahweh. NIV 6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. LEB 7 You have put gladness in my heart more than {when} their grain and their wine abound. NIV 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. LEB 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep {at once}, for you alone, O Yahweh, make me dwell safely. NIV 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
