Psalm 4

NRS 1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right! You gave me room when I was in distress. Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer. NIV 1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. NRS 2 How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame? How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies? (Selah) NIV 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ? "Selah" NRS 3 But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. NIV 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. NRS 4 When you are disturbed, do not sin; ponder it on your beds, and be silent. (Selah) NIV 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. "Selah" NRS 5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord. NIV 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. NRS 6 There are many who say, "O that we might see some good! Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord!" NIV 6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. NRS 7 You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain and wine abound. NIV 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. NRS 8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety. NIV 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
