Psalm 50

TMB 1 <<A Psalm of Asaph.>> The Mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. TMB 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. TMB 3 Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a devouring fire shall go before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. TMB 4 He shall call to the heavens from above and to the earth, that He may judge His people: NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: TMB 5 "Gather My saints together unto Me, those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice." NIV 5 "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." TMB 6 And the heavens shall declare His righteousness, for God Himself is judge. Selah NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. "Selah" TMB 7 "Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God. NIV 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. TMB 8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before Me. NIV 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. TMB 9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor hegoats out of thy folds. NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, TMB 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. TMB 11 I know all the fowls of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mine. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. TMB 12 If I were hungry I would not tell thee, for the world is Mine and the fullness thereof. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. TMB 13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? TMB 14 "Offer unto God thanksgiving, and pay thy vows unto the Most High, NIV 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, TMB 15 and call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me." NIV 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." TMB 16 But unto the wicked God saith: "What hast thou to do to declare My statutes, or that thou shouldest take My covenant in thy mouth, NIV 16 But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? TMB 17 seeing thou hatest instruction and castest My words behind thee? NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. TMB 18 When thou sawest a thief, then thou consented with him, and thou hast been partaker with adulterers. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. TMB 19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. TMB 20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. NIV 20 You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. TMB 21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself. But I will reprove thee and set them in order before thine eyes. NIV 21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face. TMB 22 "Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces and there be none to deliver: NIV 22 "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: TMB 23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me; and to him that ordereth his manner of living aright, I will show the salvation of God." NIV 23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
