Psalm 52

KJV 1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? KJV 2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. KJV 3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" KJV 4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! KJV 5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away , and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" KJV 6 The righteous also shall see , and fear , and shall laugh at him: NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, KJV 7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" KJV 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. KJV 9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
