WEB 1 <<For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A teaching poem by David, when he fought with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.>> God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us to you, again. NIV 1 You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry--now restore us! WEB 2 You have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, For it quakes. NIV 2 You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. WEB 3 You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger. NIV 3 You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger. WEB 4 You have given a banner to those who fear you, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. NIV 4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. "Selah" WEB 5 So that your beloved may be delivered, Save with your right hand, and answer us. NIV 5 Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. WEB 6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, And measure out the valley of Succoth. NIV 6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth. WEB 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter. NIV 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. WEB 8 Moab is my wash basin. I will throw my shoe on Edom. I shout in triumph over Philistia." NIV 8 Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph." WEB 9 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who has led me to Edom? NIV 9 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? WEB 10 Haven't you, God, rejected us? You don't go out with our armies, God. NIV 10 Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies? WEB 11 Give us help against the adversary, For the help of man is vain. NIV 11 Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. WEB 12 Through God we shall do valiantly, For it is he who will tread down our adversaries. NIV 12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
