Psalm 61

RSV 1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; NIV 1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. RSV 2 from the end of the earth I call to thee, when my heart is faint. Lead thou me to the rock that is higher than I; NIV 2 From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. RSV 3 for thou art my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. NIV 3 For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. RSV 4 Let me dwell in thy tent for ever! Oh to be safe under the shelter of thy wings! [Selah] NIV 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. "Selah" RSV 5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows, thou hast given me the heritage of those who fear thy name. NIV 5 For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. RSV 6 Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations! NIV 6 Increase the days of the king's life, his years for many generations. RSV 7 May he be enthroned for ever before God; bid steadfast love and faithfulness watch over him! NIV 7 May he be enthroned in God's presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. RSV 8 So will I ever sing praises to thy name, as I pay my vows day after day. NIV 8 Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
