Psalm 68

LEB 1 God will arise; his enemies will be scattered, and those who hate him will flee from before him. NIV 1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. LEB 2 As smoke is driven off, you will drive [them] off. As wax melts before fire, [the] wicked will perish before God. NIV 2 As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. LEB 3 But [the] righteous will be glad; they will exalt before God, and will rejoice with joy. NIV 3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. LEB 4 Sing to God, sing praises to his name. Lift up [a song] to [the] rider on the clouds--his name is Yah-- and rejoice before him. NIV 4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds-- his name is the LORD -- and rejoice before him. LEB 5 A father to orphans and a judge for widows [is] God in his holy habitation. NIV 5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. LEB 6 God settles the lonely in a home; he brings prisoners out into prosperity. But the rebellious abide in a barren land. NIV 6 God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. LEB 7 O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through [the] desert, Selah NIV 7 When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, "Selah" LEB 8 [the] earth shook; [the] heavens also dripped [rain] at the presence of God who [was] at Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel. NIV 8 the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. LEB 9 You caused abundant rain to fall, O God. When your inheritance was weary you revived it. NIV 9 You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. LEB 10 Your community dwelled in it. You provided in your goodness for the poor, O God. NIV 10 Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor. LEB 11 The Lord gives [the] word. Great is the company of women who announce: NIV 11 The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it: LEB 12 "[The] kings of armies flee, they flee, and she [who] remains at home divides [the] spoil. NIV 12 "Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder. LEB 13 Though you [men] lie down between the sheepfolds, [you will be like the] wings of a dove covered in silver and its pinions in yellow gold." NIV 13 Even while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of [my] dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold." LEB 14 When Shaddai scattered kings on it, on Zalmon it snowed. NIV 14 When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon. LEB 15 A mountain of God [is] the mountain of Bashan; a mountain of [many] peaks [is] the mountain of Bashan. NIV 15 The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains; rugged are the mountains of Bashan. LEB 16 Why do you look with hostility, O many-peaked mountains? This mountain God desires for his dwelling. Yes, Yahweh will abide [in it] forever. NIV 16 Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever? LEB 17 The chariots of God [are] twice ten thousand, [with] thousands doubled. The Lord [is] among them [at] Sinai, distinctive [in victory]. NIV 17 The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord [has come] from Sinai into his sanctuary. LEB 18 You have ascended on high; you have led away captives. You have received gifts [from] among humankind, and even [from the] rebellious, so that Yah God may dwell [there]. NIV 18 When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from the rebellious-- that you, O LORD God, might dwell there. LEB 19 Blessed be the Lord. Daily he loads us [with benefits], the God [of] our salvation. Selah NIV 19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. "Selah" LEB 20 Our God [is] a God of deliverances, and to [the] Yahweh the Lord belong escapes from death. NIV 20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death. LEB 21 But God will shatter the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp [of the one who] {continues on} in his guilt. NIV 21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. LEB 22 The Lord said, "I will bring [them] back from Bashan; I will bring [them] back from [the] depths of [the] sea, NIV 22 The Lord says, "I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, LEB 23 so that your foot may shatter [them] bloody [for] the tongues of your dogs [to have] their share from [the] enemies." NIV 23 that you may plunge your feet in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share." LEB 24 They have seen your processions, O God, the processions of my God, my king, distinctive [in victory]. NIV 24 Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. LEB 25 Singers went up front, those playing stringed instruments last, between [them] young women [playing] tambourines. NIV 25 In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. LEB 26 Bless God in [the] assemblies, Yahweh from the fountain of Israel. NIV 26 Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel. LEB 27 There [is] little Benjamin ruling them, [with] the princes of Judah [in] their throng, the princes of Zebulun [and] the princes of Naphtali. NIV 27 There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali. LEB 28 Your God has commanded your strength. Show yourself strong, O God, [by] what you perform for us. NIV 28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. LEB 29 Because your temple [is] above Jerusalem, kings will bring tribute to you. NIV 29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. LEB 30 Rebuke [the] beasts in [the] reeds, [the] herd of bulls with [the] calves of [the] peoples, trampling the pieces of silver. Scatter [the] nations [who] delight in battles. NIV 30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. LEB 31 Ambassadors will come from Egypt; Cush will quickly stretch out her hands to God. NIV 31 Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to God. LEB 32 O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praise to [the] Lord, Selah NIV 32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, "Selah" LEB 33 to the one who rides in the highest heavens of old. See, he gives forth his voice, a mighty voice. NIV 33 to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice. LEB 34 Ascribe strength to God. His majesty [is] over Israel, and his strength [is] in the clouds. NIV 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. LEB 35 Awesome [are you], O God, from your sanctuary. The God of Israel, [it is] he who gives strength and might to the people. Blessed be God. NIV 35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
