Psalm 68

NAS 1 Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him. NIV 1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. NAS 2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish before God. NIV 2 As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. NAS 3 But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God; Yes, let them rejoice with gladness. NIV 3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. NAS 4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD , and exult before Him. NIV 4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds-- his name is the LORD -- and rejoice before him. NAS 5 A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. NIV 5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. NAS 6 God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land. NIV 6 God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. NAS 7 O God, when You went forth before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah. NIV 7 When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, "Selah" NAS 8 The earth quaked; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel. NIV 8 the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. NAS 9 You shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God; You confirmed Your inheritance when it was parched. NIV 9 You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. NAS 10 Your creatures settled in it; You provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God. NIV 10 Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor. NAS 11 The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host: NIV 11 The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it: NAS 12 "Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home will divide the spoil!" NIV 12 "Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder. NAS 13 When you lie down among the sheepfolds, You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And its pinions with glistening gold. NIV 13 Even while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of [my] dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold." NAS 14 When the Almighty scattered the kings there, It was snowing in Zalmon. NIV 14 When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon. NAS 15 A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. NIV 15 The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains; rugged are the mountains of Bashan. NAS 16 Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks, At the mountain which God has desired for His abode? Surely the LORD will dwell there forever. NIV 16 Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever? NAS 17 The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness. NIV 17 The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord [has come] from Sinai into his sanctuary. NAS 18 You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, Even among the rebellious also, that the LORD God may dwell there. NIV 18 When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from the rebellious-- that you, O LORD God, might dwell there. NAS 19 Blessed be the Lord , who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. NIV 19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. "Selah" NAS 20 God is to us a God of deliverances; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death. NIV 20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death. NAS 21 Surely God will shatter the head of His enemies, The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds. NIV 21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. NAS 22 The Lord said, "I will bring them back from Bashan. I will bring them back from the depths of the sea; NIV 22 The Lord says, "I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, NAS 23 That your foot may shatter them in blood, The tongue of your dogs may have its portion from your enemies." NIV 23 that you may plunge your feet in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share." NAS 24 They have seen Your procession, O God, The procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary. NIV 24 Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. NAS 25 The singers went on, the musicians after them, In the midst of the maidens beating tambourines. NIV 25 In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. NAS 26 Bless God in the congregations, Even the LORD , you who are of the fountain of Israel. NIV 26 Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel. NAS 27 There is Benjamin, the youngest, ruling them, The princes of Judah in their throng, The princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. NIV 27 There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali. NAS 28 Your God has commanded your strength; Show Yourself strong, O God, who have acted on our behalf. NIV 28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. NAS 29 Because of Your temple at Jerusalem Kings will bring gifts to You. NIV 29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. NAS 30 Rebuke the beasts in the reeds, The herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples, Trampling under foot the pieces of silver; He has scattered the peoples who delight in war. NIV 30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. NAS 31 Envoys will come out of Egypt; Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God. NIV 31 Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to God. NAS 32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, Sing praises to the Lord , Selah. NIV 32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, "Selah" NAS 33 To Him who rides upon the highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Behold, He speaks forth with His voice, a mighty voice. NIV 33 to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice. NAS 34 Ascribe strength to God; His majesty is over Israel And His strength is in the skies. NIV 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. NAS 35 O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God! NIV 35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
