TMB 1 <<Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD concerning the words of Cush, the Benjamite.>> O LORD my God, in Thee do I put my trust. Save me from all them that persecute me; and deliver me, NIV 1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, TMB 2 lest they tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces while there is none to deliver. NIV 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. TMB 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity on my hands, NIV 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands-- TMB 4 if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy), NIV 4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-- TMB 5 let the enemy persecute my soul and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah NIV 5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. "Selah" TMB 6 Arise, O LORD, in Thine anger; lift up Thyself against the rage of mine enemies, and awaken for me the judgment that Thou hast commanded. NIV 6 Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. TMB 7 So shall the congregation of the people compass Thee about; for their sakes, therefore, return Thou on high. NIV 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high; TMB 8 The LORD shall judge the people: Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to mine integrity that is in me. NIV 8 let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. TMB 9 O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. NIV 9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. TMB 10 My defense is of God, who saveth the upright in heart. NIV 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. TMB 11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. NIV 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. TMB 12 If he turn not, He will whet His sword; He hath bent His bow and made it ready. NIV 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. TMB 13 He hath also prepared for Him the instruments of death; He ordaineth His arrows against the persecutors. NIV 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. TMB 14 Behold, the wicked travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief and brought forth falsehood. NIV 14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. TMB 15 He made a pit and dug it, and has fallen into the ditch which he hath made. NIV 15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. TMB 16 His mischief shall return upon his own head; and his violent dealings shall come down upon his own pate. NIV 16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. TMB 17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. NIV 17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
