HNV 1 <<A maskil by Asaf.>> God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture? NIV 1 Why have you rejected us forever, O God? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture? HNV 2 Remember your congregation, which you purchased of old, Which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your inheritance; Mount Tziyon, in which you have lived. NIV 2 Remember the people you purchased of old, the tribe of your inheritance, whom you redeemed-- Mount Zion, where you dwelt. HNV 3 Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, All the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary. NIV 3 Turn your steps toward these everlasting ruins, all this destruction the enemy has brought on the sanctuary. HNV 4 Your adversaries have roared in the midst of your assembly. They have set up their standards as signs. NIV 4 Your foes roared in the place where you met with us; they set up their standards as signs. There is no longer any prophet, Neither is there among us anyone who knows how long. NIV 9 We are given no miraculous signs; no prophets are left, and none of us knows how long this will be. HNV 10 How long, God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever? NIV 10 How long will the enemy mock you, O God? Will the foe revile your name forever? HNV 11 Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it out of your pocket and consume them! NIV 11 Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them! HNV 12 Yet God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the eretz. NIV 13 It was you who split open the sea by your power; you broke the heads of the monster in the waters. HNV 14 You broke the heads of Livyatan in pieces. You gave him as food to people and desert creatures. NIV 14 It was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan and gave him as food to the creatures of the desert. HNV 15 You opened up spring and stream. You dried up mighty rivers. NIV 15 It was you who opened up springs and streams; you dried up the ever flowing rivers. HNV 16 The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. NIV 16 The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. HNV 17 You have set all the boundaries of the eretz. You have made summer and winter. NIV 17 It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter. HNV 18 Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, LORD. Foolish people have blasphemed your name. NIV 18 Remember how the enemy has mocked you, O LORD, how foolish people have reviled your name. HNV 19 Don't deliver the soul of your dove to wild beasts. Don't forget the life of your poor forever. NIV 19 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever. HNV 20 Honor your covenant, For haunts of violence fill the dark places of the eretz. NIV 20 Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land. HNV 21 Don't let the oppressed return ashamed. Let the poor and needy praise your name. NIV 21 Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name. HNV 22 Arise, God! Plead your own cause. Remember how the foolish man mocks you all day. NIV 22 Rise up, O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools mock you all day long. HNV 23 Don't forget the voice of your adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against you ascends continually. NIV 23 Do not ignore the clamor of your adversaries, the uproar of your enemies, which rises continually.
