NLT 1 For the choir director: A psalm of Asaph, to be sung to the tune "Lilies of the Covenant." Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Israel like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory NIV 1 Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth NLT 2 to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us! NIV 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. NLT 3 Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. NIV 3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. NLT 4 O LORD God Almighty, how long will you be angry and reject our prayers? NIV 4 O LORD God Almighty, how long will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? NLT 5 You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. NIV 5 You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. NLT 6 You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke. NIV 6 You have made us a source of contention to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. NLT 7 Turn us again to yourself, O God Almighty. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. NIV 7 Restore us, O God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. NLT 8 You brought us from Egypt as though we were a tender vine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land. NIV 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. NLT 9 You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land. NIV 9 You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land. NLT 10 The mountains were covered with our shade; the mighty cedars were covered with our branches. NIV 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. NLT 11 We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea, our limbs east to the Euphrates River. NIV 11 It sent out its boughs to the Sea, its shoots as far as the River. NLT 12 But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass may steal our fruit? NIV 12 Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes? NLT 13 The boar from the forest devours us, and the wild animals feed on us. NIV 13 Boars from the forest ravage it and the creatures of the field feed on it. NLT 14 Come back, we beg you, O God Almighty. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Watch over and care for this vine NIV 14 Return to us, O God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine, NLT 15 that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself. NIV 15 the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself. NLT 16 For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown. NIV 16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish. NLT 17 Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice. NIV 17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. NLT 18 Then we will never forsake you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. NIV 18 Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. NLT 19 Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God Almighty. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.
