A maskil by Heman, the Ezrachite.>> LORD, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you. NIV 1 O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you. HNV 2 Let my prayer enter into your presence. Turn your ear to my cry. NIV 2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. HNV 3 For my soul is full of troubles. My life draws near to She'ol. NIV 3 For my soul is full of trouble and my life draws near the grave. HNV 4 I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help, NIV 4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like a man without strength. HNV 5 Set apart among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. NIV 12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion? HNV 13 But to you, LORD, I have cried. In the morning, my prayer comes before you. NIV 13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you. HNV 14 LORD, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? NIV 14 Why, O LORD, do you reject me and hide your face from me? HNV 15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. NIV 15 From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death; I have suffered your terrors and am in despair. HNV 16 Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off. NIV 16 Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me. HNV 17 They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. NIV 17 All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me. HNV 18 You have put lover and friend far from me, And my friends into darkness. NIV 18 You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.
