NIV 3 For my soul is full of trouble and my life draws near the grave. LEB 4 I am reckoned with [those] descending to [the] pit. LEB 5 set free among the dead, like [the] slain lying in [the] grave, whom you no longer remember, even those cut off from your hand. NIV 5 I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care. LEB 6 You have set me in [the] pit below, in dark places, in [the] depths. NIV 6 You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. LEB 7 Your wrath presses upon me, and you afflict [me with] all your waves. Selah NIV 7 Your wrath lies heavily upon me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. "Selah" LEB 8 You have removed my acquaintances far from me. You have made me detestable to them. [I am] confined and cannot go out. NIV 8 You have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot escape; LEB 9 My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O Yahweh, every day; I spread out my hands to you. NIV 9 my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you. LEB 10 Do you work wonders for the dead? Or do [the] departed spirits rise up [to] praise you? Selah NIV 10 Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do those who are dead rise up and praise you? "Selah" LEB 11 Is your loyal love told in the grave, [or] your faithfulness in the underworld? NIV 11 Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction ? LEB 12 Are your wonders known in the darkness, [or] your righteousness in [the] land of forgetfulness? NIV 12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion? LEB 13 But as for me, I cry for help to you, O Yahweh, and in the morning my prayer comes before you. NIV 13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you. LEB 14 Why do you reject my soul, O Yahweh? [Why] do you hide your face from me? NIV 14 Why, O LORD, do you reject me and hide your face from me? LEB 15 I [am] afflicted and perishing from [my] youth. I bear your terrors. I am distraught. NIV 15 From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death; I have suffered your terrors and am in despair. LEB 16 Your burning anger has passed over me; your sudden fears have destroyed me. NIV 16 Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me. LEB 17 They surround me like water all the day; they circle about me altogether. NIV 17 All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me. LEB 18 You have removed loved one and friend far from me, my acquaintances [far from my] darkness. NIV 18 You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.
