Psalm 90

NLT 1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! NIV 1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. NLT 2 Before the mountains were created, before you made the earth and the world, you are God, without beginning or end. NIV 2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. NLT 3 You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust!" NIV 3 You turn men back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, O sons of men." NLT 4 For you, a thousand years are as yesterday! They are like a few hours! NIV 4 For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. NLT 5 You sweep people away like dreams that disappear or like grass that springs up in the morning. NIV 5 You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning-- NLT 6 In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered. NIV 6 though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered. NLT 7 We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury. NIV 7 We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation. NLT 8 You spread out our sins before you -- our secret sins -- and you see them all. NIV 8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. NLT 9 We live our lives beneath your wrath. We end our lives with a groan. NIV 9 All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan. NLT 10 Seventy years are given to us! Some may even reach eighty. But even the best of these years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we are gone. NIV 10 The length of our days is seventy years-- or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. NLT 11 Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve. NIV 11 Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you. NLT 12 Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom. NIV 12 Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. NLT 13 O LORD, come back to us! How long will you delay? Take pity on your servants! NIV 13 Relent, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. NLT 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. NIV 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. NLT 15 Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good. NIV 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. NLT 16 Let us see your miracles again; let our children see your glory at work. NIV 16 May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. NLT 17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful! NIV 17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands.
