Psalm 91

DBY 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. NIV 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. DBY 2 I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; my God, I will confide in him. NIV 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." DBY 3 Surely *he* shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the destructive pestilence. NIV 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. DBY 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou find refuge: his truth is a shield and buckler. NIV 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. DBY 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, for the arrow that flieth by day, NIV 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, DBY 6 For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. NIV 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. DBY 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. NIV 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. DBY 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked. NIV 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. DBY 9 Because *thou* hast made Jehovah, my refuge, the Most High, thy dwelling-place, NIV 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- DBY 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent. NIV 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. DBY 11 For he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways: NIV 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; DBY 12 They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. NIV 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. DBY 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot. NIV 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. DBY 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. NIV 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. DBY 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. NIV 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. DBY 16 With length of days will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. NIV 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
