Revelation 12

DBY 1 And a great sign was seen in the heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; NIV 1 A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. DBY 2 and being with child she cried, [being] in travail, and in pain to bring forth. NIV 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. DBY 3 And another sign was seen in the heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems; NIV 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. DBY 4 and his tail draws the third part of the stars of the heaven; and he cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bring forth, in order that when she brought forth he might devour her child. NIV 4 His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. DBY 5 And she brought forth a male son, who shall shepherd all the nations with an iron rod; and her child was caught up to God and to his throne. NIV 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. DBY 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has there a place prepared of God, that they should nourish her there a thousand two hundred [and] sixty days. NIV 6 The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days. DBY 7 And there was war in the heaven: Michael and his angels went to war with the dragon. And the dragon fought, and his angels; NIV 7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. DBY 8 and he prevailed not, nor was their place found any more in the heaven. NIV 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. DBY 9 And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent, he who is called Devil and Satan, he who deceives the whole habitable world, he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. NIV 9 The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. DBY 10 And I heard a great voice in the heaven saying, Now is come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren has been cast out, who accused them before our God day and night: NIV 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. DBY 11 and *they* have overcome him by reason of the blood of the Lamb, and by reason of the word of their testimony, and have not loved their life even unto death. NIV 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. DBY 12 Therefore be full of delight, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great rage, knowing he has a short time. NIV 12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short." DBY 13 And when the dragon saw that he had been cast out into the earth, he persecuted the woman which bore the male [child]. NIV 13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. DBY 14 And there were given to the woman the two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the desert into her place, where she is nourished there a time, and times, and half a time, from [the] face of the serpent. NIV 14 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent's reach. DBY 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth behind the woman water as a river, that he might make her be [as] one carried away by a river. NIV 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. DBY 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth. NIV 16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. DBY 17 And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus. NIV 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring--those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus. DBY 18 * [No text]
