NIV 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. HNV 3 You have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary. NIV 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. HNV 4 But I have this against you, that you left your first love. NIV 4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. HNV 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you, and will move your menorah out of its place, unless you repent. NIV 5 Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. HNV 6 But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. NIV 6 But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. HNV 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my God. HNV 8 "To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: "The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things: NIV 8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. HNV 9 "I know your oppression, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Yehudim, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Hasatan. NIV 9 I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. HNV 10 Don't be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life. NIV 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. HNV 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be hurt by the second death. NIV 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. HNV 12 "To the angel of the assembly in Pergamum write: "He who has the sharp two-edged sword says these things: NIV 12 "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. HNV 13 "I know your works and where you dwell, where Hasatan's throne is. You hold firmly to my name, and didn't deny my faith, even in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Hasatan dwells. NIV 13 I know where you live--where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city--where Satan lives. HNV 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Bil`am, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Yisra'el, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. NIV 14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. HNV 15 So you also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans in the same way. NIV 15 Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. HNV 16 Repent therefore, or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth. NIV 16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. HNV 17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes, to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he who receives it. NIV 17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. HNV 19 I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first. NIV 19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. HNV 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman, Izevel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols. NIV 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. HNV 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. NIV 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. HNV 22 Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works. NIV 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. HNV 23 I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. NIV 23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. HNV 24 But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as don't have this teaching, who don't know what some call 'the deep things of Hasatan,' to you I say, I don't lay on you any other burden. NIV 24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): HNV 25 Nevertheless that which you have, hold firmly until I come. NIV 25 Only hold on to what you have until I come. HNV 26 He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him will I give authority over the nations. NIV 26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations-- HNV 27 He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father: NIV 27 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery' -- just as I have received authority from my Father. HNV 28 and I will give him the morning star. NIV 28 I will also give him the morning star. HNV 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. NIV 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
